CLAIMS MENTOR -Fall 2009
 by Yolanda Stinchcomb, RGA, Editor

  ___________________________________________________________________________

UPDATED NEWS 2009
____________________________________________________________________________

Interest Rates- With the size of the national debt increasing, interest rates will have to follow suit before years end. Inflation will continue to rise. Expect to see mortgage rates to rise beginning this fall.

Pandemic- Several years ago it was predicted a pandemic would hit, however it is not similar to the 1918 devastation outbreak that claimed millions. The flu outbreak is short lived until 2010 and will end in 2012, with 3rd world countries hardest hit. The experts are saying to drink a lot of elderberry tea to keep the lungs healthy during recuperation period of the flu. The tea is now becoming scarce to find as millions have gotten the message. You can substitute the elderberry syrup for a better source.

Economy- Even though the rally call is for the recession to be ending, don't believe it, there will be a double dip recession. There are no signs of reversal of the losses, decline housing values and bank failures continue.

Earth Changes- In April ,09 the Chaiten Volcano erupted and ever since activity has increased in South America. This is the predicted 3rd event in the 4 event scenario  beginning in March 09 with the Alaska's Mount Redoubt eruption. It has erupted at least 5 times in the 1900's. The 4th event is predicted to be an eruption in North America in the Northwest with earthquakes of 7.0 by years end.

58 MPG!  The Volkswagon 2009 Jetta TDI has been test driven across all 48 Sates and set a new record for 58mpg. I tis a clean diesel engine. It is a turbo charged clean diesel engine that delivers 95% decrease in sooty emissions. Look for us all to switch to clean diesel.

Predictions for 2009-

__________________________________________________________________________
Banks-  Expect to see more localized banking becoming popular. With more declines in banking to come, people will turn to their local banks instead of global banks.

Housing- In April and May you will see an increase in housing purchases. But the amount of foreclosures will continue high in 2009.

Metals- Gold, silver, copper remains fairly stagnant for a period. Steel shall do well as the infrastructure is being rebuilt.

Stock Market- The bottom has not yet been reached yet in global markets.

Recession- A depression has already begun. A new economic society will emerge by 2010 and take a decade to complete. The economical model based on consumer spending shall not survive in its current form.

Alternative Energy- A new form of battery, a fuel cell that operates on chemical system will emerge in 2009. It will drive a full car

Space- Discoveries will come from other countries. In 2009 Chinese will develop a robotic drill able to drill deep into the lunar surface, rather than a shovel or scoop as made by the US.

Weather- In 2009 there will be more storms and flooding from Mexico moving around the Panhandle down to the Keys and east from Florida up into the Carolina's.  Ice in 2009 is the biggest factor rather than snow, in particular in MS, TN,NC, SC, and GA.

                                            ELECTRIC CAR BREAKTHROUGH-
The first electric car that is going to be successful will be the Volt. This is a small electric car that can be plugged in at night to recharge.  The electric hybrid out now, and Volt, has begun the transformation from fossil fuel to run transportation to electric. This technology will lead to new methods of supplying electric energy.  Just as radio and television is broadcast today, electric energy will be broadcast in the future. Expect this within a decade
