Our Mission

The National General Adjusters Association was founded in Los Angeles in 1991 upon the premise to afford its members the opportunity to meet and learn from other General Adjusters and other heavy Commercial Property Consultants. Newsletters and seminars provides information about new forms and trends within the insurance industry. NGAA is involved in setting industry claim standards to be educational and helpful in pursuing higher ethics and skills in property adjusting above the expected.
NGAA was founded under a California non-profit charter in Los Angeles in 1991 by R.L. Stinchcomb,AIC, IIA, AIS, NFIP, CIC, CPA, EGA, RGA 40 yrs experience, founder and President of Golden State Insurance Adjusters of California, an author of several commercial training books, training mgr, and Home Office Corporate Claim Director handling high profile commercial losses as an Executive General Adjuster thru-out 32 states. He has conducted numerous trainng seminars nationwide and written numerous national trade magazine articles on Property Claim Protocols. He later became a General Adjuster with such carriers as Fireman's Fund, Farmers Ins Grp, Kemper, Safeco, Lake States Insurance, Transamerica, Meridian Ins and GAB/Robins. He now works multi states as a consultant, advocacy blog site coverage analysis, and extensive pro bono work for seniors and the disadvantged with unresolved claim issues. He serves as a Corporate Claims Advocate for many self insurers-TPA in coverage analysis. He assists both the insurer and insured in coverage disputes and in-house Quality Control audits.
Yolanda Stinchcomb, co-founder of NGAA in 1991.She was a co founder of Golden State Insurance Adjusters of Los Angeles from 1985-1999, exclusively handlig large commercial losses in Southern CA. She earned her 30 yrs experience as an underwriter and claims adjuster with Kemper Ins, FarmBureau, Mini-Co Ins, Liberty Mutual, AmeriClaim of Indiana-Owner/Mgr, GAB/Robins-Sr Property Adjuster. She founded her own Independent Adjusting firm handling commercial property, dram shop and municipalities, Transportation Lines, Lloyds Commercial Property with special expertise in pre-trial litigation. She has adjusted claims in IL, OH, MI, FL, KY, CA, AZ.
NGAA is the only national organization to provide the "Registered General Adjuster" (RGA) designation giving credibility to those who qualify, and separating them from the self appointed adjusters. (The name and symbol are trademarks of RLStinchcomb, a privately held entity.) Imposters using the designation RGA-Registered General Adjuster are not acknowledged on this site and are imposters not recognized as a GA by this assocaition or its peer group.
Qualification Process is by Invitation, passing our test. and/or approval by an NGAA member. All applicants will have a minimum of 10 yrs verifiable Commercial Property Claim experience, with 80% daily adjusting primarily involved in property adjusting (No Cat Adjusters considered), as well as meet one or all of the following criteria, but not limited thereto:
1. Property Adjuster with an insurer, TPA
2. Sr. staff Property Adjuster Position
3. General Adjuster Position with carrier (no self appointed GA titles considered)
4. Licensed Property Claim Consultants, Public Adjuster with a formal carrier background of 10 years
4. Passing a property exam if requested by NGAA
5. Furnish letters of reference confirming your property ability and reporting, if requested
6. Provide sample work product, if requested by this association
7. Membership may be by Special Invitation of this association, initial application fee is $200.
8. No "storm chasers" or "Cat" Adjusters will be considered
9. Annual Dues of $100. EACH YEAR THEREAFTER
